Paul Templer Through the Years

After growing up in war-torn Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Paul served in the British Army and traveled around the world. He lived an exotic life filled with adventure, danger and fun before settling down to a career in the Safari industry.

Following a few years working as a licensed Professional River Safari Guide, Paul launched his own company providing consulting and guiding services to the safari industry. Life was good… then one day an enraged hippopotamus ripped his body and his life apart. Reader's Digest article

After spending a few months playing the victim role, Paul decided it wasn’t working so well for him, so he chose get on with his life instead.

Two years after his horrific attack, equipped with a specially adapted kayak paddle, Paul went on to lead the historic three-month long 1998 Zambezi River Expedition – using the publicity to launch the Templer Foundation, his non-profit organization that provides support to disabled and terminally ill children worldwide.

In 1999, Paul married Michigan native Carrie, and started a new life in America. In April 2003, the same month his first daughter was born, Paul launched his own successful speaking and coaching business. In 2010 he thoroughly enjoyed co-authoring Success Simplified: Simple Solutions – Measurable Results with Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits guy) et al and nowadays much of his attention and energy is focused on the people his global consulting practice are helping to adopt a culture of accountability and be more profitable.

Whilst Paul continues to dabble in the world of extreme expeditions and has been the subject of documentaries produced by the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and the BBC – his greatest joy lies in experiencing all that life has to offer with his wife and three young children.
